Google Maps help you to avoid COVID-19

You have probably got lost at least once in your life when you were going to a new unknown place and then the first thing you did was use the Google Maps function, which showed you the direction you were going to take. Google Maps with a COVID-19 layer

Default, Satellite, Terrain, Public Transport, Traffic, Bike Routes, 3D, and Street View views have long been available from the layers button in the upper right corner of the screen. Now another item has come to this - COVID-19.
After activating the new view, the number of detected infections for the last 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants is superimposed on each area. Along with an indicator of whether the trend is upward or downward.

Single provinces, states, counties, and cities with a high infection rate are marked in red - the darker the shade, the greater the density of detected cases.
The assumption is that the new function is to facilitate movement over longer distances. It will be easier to avoid coronavirus outbreaks during long-distance travel.
It is worth using the new Google Maps feature, especially if you are going to travel abroad, to be aware of where the greatest risk of virus infection is present.

COVID-19 layer available worldwide

Google points out that the feature starts immediately in all 220 countries and territories covered by Maps. The data is expected to come from "multiple reliable sources", including government organizations.
The new layer is gradually being made available to users of Android and iOS applications. At the time of writing, this feature may not be available in all countries yet, so please check to see if a new Google Maps feature is already added in your country.
